RNH MAG: What is your artist name?
MP: Makala Perry
RNH MAG: Explain what your name means?
MP: Well I believe it came from a lady my mom seen on tv and she liked her name…lol but its my birth name:)
RNH MAG: What city and state are you representing?
RNH MAG: Describe your style of singing or rapping?
MP: I would describe it as a mixture of a 90s vibe but with a modern sound.
RNH MAG: Who inspired you to pursue a music career?
MP: Every person who made music before me because I know it started as a dream for them and they pursued it and made it into their reality. Dreams, and people with dreams, inspire me.
RNH MAG: What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?
MP: Well it definitely wasn’t easy breaking out to a miltary family who is really serious about being stable and who wants you to choose between school or the military for your only options in life lol. Once I did, it got rocky. I ended up homeless for a while and found myself in some bad situations and environments which really pushed me to chase my dreams but even more to push through where I was in life.
RNH MAG: Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?
MP: I’m always crazy nervous at first lol! Everything I write is a piece of me so when I record I feel like I give a little of me to my listeners. But once I get comfortable in my setting it’s a jam session!
RNH MAG: What is the message behind your music?
MP: I have many different messages, some towards my women, some towards my men, and some even towards my exe’s, Nobody is safe lol. But the messages I send are always real and genuine and my outlooks on alot that has taken place or can take place.
RNH MAG: What do you fear the most in this business?
MP: I don’t believe I fear anything, I’m on this journey for a purpose and I won’t stop until my purpose and goals are met.
